ELEPHANT was a weekly dance party in Manila that ran for 4 years until the untimely closure of its home base, club XXXX, due to the pandemic.
In the more than half a year that the Philippines has been on lock-down, our government committed several atrocities towards its people: closure of a major news company, failure of creating a dependable Covid-19 response, killing of activists, and many more. One that particularly stood out and affected the LGBT community is the pardon given by the president to US Military personnel JOSEPH SCOTT Pemberton, who was convicted of murdering transwoman JENNIFER LAUDE in 2014.
ELEPHANT was never one to shy away from important issues; in fact, we create unapologetic themed events based on these issues so that we could establish a discussion within our community. We are angry, we want to get together. We are frustrated, we want to dance.
Community Bread × ELEPHANT is ELEPHANT's second online stream; it is an amalgam of music and visuals created by queer and trans Filipino artists and DJs.
The amount raised from this stream will go to the LGBTQIA+ artists who are affected by the pandemic and to everyone who contributed in creating our online protest/party.
