Large Marge

Brooklyn, NY

Rachel Noon
How has Large Marge played a role in your local community and music scene?

Large Marge has hopefully been an exciting space for community members to explore what the rave means to them.

What can we see, hear and experience at your parties?

The goal has always been to offer sound that invites euphoric and uplifting experiences. While it's a decidedly techno party, the sound at Large Marge tends to steer away from the dark, harsher sounding techno. Inside a Marge you will likely see some video projections! Marge has always been in awe of the outrageous 90s exercise movement. So, these are usually projected on at least one wall of the party. Outlandish 'old school' rave iconography is part of Marge's DNA. At a party, you'll find space to chill and talk as well as plenty of space to go ham on a dancefloor.

Tell us some DJs / artists you’re digging at the moment?

Wow, way too many to name, but here's a start: Juana, Julianna, Sybil, Ida Engelhardt, Horns, Juliana Huxtable, the three residents of Spielraum (Afra, Ki/Ki + Polly F), DJ Martina S., Newa, and Peachlyfe.

4) What do you think will become of the music industry & the underground music scene post-pandemic?

This is tough to think about. While I think the actual 'energy' of the folks involved might be more powerful than ever, I think the tangible resources will have been depleted. So, basically, we've been 'setback,' but we might have even more fight inside us to rebuild. Maybe, one day, even bigger than before.
